German-born Thomas Peschak fell in love with the ocean the moment he put his head underwater for the first time.

Photographs are one of the most powerful tools in the conservation arsenal, and it is my life’s work to create images that inspire people to act.

At 16, my parents gave me a Nikonos V underwater camera for my birthday, and it changed my life. I bought my first DSLR, a Nikon F90 a few years later, and have never looked back.

I have produced fifteen print stories for the National Geographic Magazine and eight books, which have all been shot exclusively on Nikon cameras. These days you’ll find me using a Z 9, Z 6II, a D5 and every Nikon lens imaginable.
